Brisbane – Bakery Tour

Brisbane – Bakery Tour

During my second week in Brisbane we went on a bakery tour, visiting 10 bakeries in one morning!

The bakeries were chosen based on word of mouth from Brisbanites, with a few social media favorites thrown in.

It was so much fun and what a great selection of treats, both sweet and savoury! We started at 9am and had all our goodies on the table for photographing by 1:30pm

Note: Location 1 and 2 are in the same spot

Sprout

Sprout had a wonderful selection of croissants and pastries. We settled on seed bread, a cardamon custard bun, a chocolate cookie, a pineapple coconut tart, and the pastry of the day.

Agnes

Agnes was across the street from Sprout so we didn’t even need to get back into the car! Their selection of breads and pastries was amazing. We chose a baguette, potato+toum danish, tomato+nori scroll, and a dark chocolate wattleseed cookie. We also got a pork+fennel sausage roll and coconut water matcha to enjoy on our way to the next bakery.

Brooki Bakehouse

After a short drive we arrived at Brooki Bakehouse by 9:39. Since Brooki is known for her cookies we chose 4 different cookies to try – dark chocolate walnut, double chocolate, biscoff, and lemon cheesecake. We also got a strawberry matcha.

Christian Jacques

Christian Jacques was our fourth bakery. As we approached we laughed about the tiny bakery located below the giant fitness center. Location, location, location!!! This bakery had been recommended by a number of people so we were really looking forward to it. After waiting in a short line, we arrived at 9:56. We chose the blueberry danish, the custard croissant,a plain croissant, and a ham and cheese croissant. All were crispy and delicious.

Cerin

Cerin was another bakery that came highly recommended. This Italian bakery had such an amazing selection and it was tough to narrow down what to order. This was also the longest line that we had to wait in. Ultimately, we chose a nutella bombalone, 2 coda d’aracosta, a maritozzi, and a carbonara croissant.

A Mano

A Mano is known for their vanilla slice. Unfortunately they were sold out when we arrived at 10:39 and it would be another 30 minutes before they would be ready. We tried the Authentic Italian biscuits – Limoncello and Orange Almond.

Nos

Nos Bakehouse wasn’t originally on our list, but we drove by and saw a long queue out front so we turned around and found a place to park. Because we were getting our food to takeaway we were able to jump to the front of the queue. They had a lovely selection of cakes influenced by asian flavors – something we really love! We chose Black Sesame, Pandan Coconut and Basque Cheesecake. We also got a teriyaki tofu sandwich for a vegetarian savoury option.

Lune Croissanterie

Lune was my favorite bakery when I went to Melbourne, so I was really excited to find it in Brisbane. I went on my own early in my visit and wanted to share it with my friends and daughter. We got two vegemite escargot, a ham and cheese croissant, and a hazelnut cruffin.

Gerbinos

By the time we got to Gerbinos, we were really ready to sit down and enjoy our feast. So we ran in quickly but didn’t remember to take pictures! We got 4 arancini, a vanilla slice, and a lamington.

Flour and Chocolate

Our final bakery was Flour & Chocolate. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived they were sold out of most items, so we didn’t get anything. We knew that might happen, but since this bakery was closest to my friends house it needed to be our last stop.

We stopped to pick up some butter and cheese, then laid out our bounty for a bakery feast (with lots of leftovers to enjoy over the next several days!)

Our two favorite bakeries were Agnes and Sprout and since they are right across the street from each other you can easily visit both when you are in Brisbane!
