Brisbane – Eat Street Northshore

In 2013, an old abandoned docking site in Hamilton (10-15 minutes from the Brisbane CBD) was transformed into a global food mecca. 180+ shipping containers have been fitted out into food stalls and an entertainment complex known as Eat Street Northshore. It is a great place to visit on a Friday or Saturday from 4-10 or Sunday from 4-9.

EatStreet vendors each have a shipping container or other food truck that they personalize however they choose. The result is a vibrant, colorful dining experience!

With 70 vendors and 5 stages there is food and entertainment for everyone.

With so many options, it was really hard to choose what to eat! I just kept saying – if I lived here I would be here every weekend. And honestly, I don’t think I’d ever run out of new things to try!
Fortunately, I was there with a couple of friends so we could share a few items. We ultimately settled on a loaded potato, crispy pork belly, Japanese pizza (which is really Okonomiyaki – more like an egg and cabbage omelet) and Hungarian flatbread.

For the loaded potato, chose the Explorer which had bolognese sauce, beetroot, cheese, sour cream and chives

We had an order of pork belly and an order of pork belly croquets. Both were really delicious (but not crispy)

We added pork to the Japanese Pizza.

We got a beef and a chicken flatbread. Both were really good!
But we didn’t stop there! We sat and enjoyed the music for a while then we were off in search of dessert — Japanese Souffle Pancakes! I have been wanting to try these for awhile and they were absolutely worth the wait. I got the original and it tasted just like the lightest, fluffiest pancake that you could imagine. So good!

I have one more week in Brisbane, I think I may need to make another visit to EatStreet next weekend!
