Brisbane – City Markets

Brisbane has two City Markets, one on Wednesday from 8am-6pm at Reddacliff Place and one on Thursday from 8am-2pm at Cathedral Square. They apparently launched a 3rd market at Queen’s Wharf on Thursday from 8am-2pm, but I was unable to locate this market.

Reddacliff Place is a large square at the top of the Queen Street Mall, a pedestrian shopping street with over 500 stores.
The City Market at Reddacliff Place caters to city workers, local residents, and tourists. It offers a large selection of ready to eat food that students or workers can pick up on their way to Uni or work, quick serve lunches or dinners to take home to the family. It also has a selection of produce, handmade provisions, and gifts.

The City Market at Cathedral Square was a much smaller market, primarily with ready to eat food. It appeared to cater to the businesses in the area as a breakfast or lunch option.

Both of these markets were nice for a good selection of ready to eat food. Reddacliff was more centrally located and had a greater variety of vendors to choose from. But if I were only looking for raw food, like produce, meat, and dairy, I would probably skip these and go to Harris Farm Market.
