Wellington – Harbourside Market

Wellington – Harbourside Market

If you know anything about me, you know that I love going to markets! And the Harbourside Market in Wellington is one of my all time favorites. Maybe it’s because I am living in Wellington and it is my weekly market instead of just a tourist destination, but whatever the reason, this market is great!

The Harbourside Market has become a Sunday tradition for me. Whenever I am in Wellington, I will head to the market on Sunday morning. Sometimes I go with my daughter, sometimes I meet friends there, and sometimes I wander the market alone.

There are always so many amazing vendors and entertainers at the market.

I will often start my market visit with a donut from Dirty Donuts, so yummy! Their donuts are vegan and I am not a big fan of the vegan cream so the apple fritter is my go to!

There are lots of other baked goods at the market and we will occasionally pick up bread or bagels, but a number of the bakeries also sell their goods at Moore Wilson’s (a gourmet grocery store a block away from our apartment), so we can easily pick it up fresh whenever we need it.

The produce selection at the market is amazing! Before coming to New Zealand I read a blog about “things I wish I new before moving to NZ” and she talked about always buying when things are in season. The farmers market is the best way to make sure that I ma getting the most seasonal fruits and veggies!

I also love to pick up fresh flowers from the market. Dahlias happened to be in season for our anniversary so I made this beautiful bouquet.

Perhaps my favorite part of the market is the people watching, oh, and the food stalls!

The market is on the Wellington waterfront so part of the fun of visiting the market is enjoying a walk along the water and maybe a coffee with a friend! It happens every Sunday, rain or shine is well worth a visit!
