Sydney – Bakeries

The above photo was taken at Tenacious Croissant at The Rocks Market. I enjoyed the Yuzu Kouign Amann while sitting under the harbor bridge with a view of the Opera House. You can read more about my visit to The Rocks Market here.

In addition to visiting markets, another of my favorite things to do is visit the popular spots for baked goods. One of the sources to find these spots is social media.

Black Star Pastry makes the “World’s Most Instagrammed Cake!” and, without a doubt their cakes are very photogenic.

The Strawberry Watermelon Cake is the creation that made them a social media sensation!

I also got the Origami Lemon Cake. I really enjoyed the different textures and flavors of the Strawberry Watermelon Cake, but I was not a fan of the Origami Lemon Cake.

My favorite cake bakery is another social media sensation – Enze Bakery. It is in Ryde, a suburb of Sydney, but is well worth the 30+ minute bus ride.

Another place that I visited is Tokyo Lamington. They aren’t an internet sensation (yet!) but Lamington’s are a traditional Australian dessert and Tokyo Lamington is putting their own creative spin on them.

“OG”

Carrot Cake

Yuzu Merengue

Maple Apple

Fairy Bread

Ricotta

The OG is a traditional lamington with a raspberry jam filling. The filling on the fairy bread was popcorn buttercream – very reminicient of childhood. No surprise that the yuzu merengue is their specialty!
